Deliverability, not to be confused with Deliverance

Hey Reader!

I’m going to flip the script today.

As an email marketer, you know how disheartening it is to spend a lot of time crafting an excellent message only to find that 75% of your audience hasn’t read it.

(And let me just pause for a moment to say that if, in fact, your open rate isn’t what you’d like, I invite you to pick up Big Click Energy, a thorough guide to writing subject lines.

You can write headlines that get your email opened! I can help.

Normally $17, but because I love you I’m giving it to you for a mere $7.

Grab yours now.)

But anyway, here’s a question - are you causing this same pain to other writers by letting their emails go unread?

How many newsletters are you subscribed to? Do you read them? Can you find them in the morass of marketing garbage cluttering up your inbox?

Because maybe you’re part of the problem for some other trying-hard-as-they-can small businesses.

They’re writing emails with the determination of a movie star trying to fit into her Golden Globes gown, but there’s no red carpet photographer applauding their efforts.

Just crickets.

In another part of my life I’m a decluttering guru. And I’m going to just assume that you need to declutter your inbox - apologies if you’re the Mr. Clean of internet communications, but if not?

Then I’m talking to you.

Jump in there and start deleting!

And for the love of money, unsubscribe from those mailing lists if you’re not interested in their content. You won’t hurt anyone’s feelings, you’ll increase their open rates and improve their deliverability.

Which is a much greater gift than boosting their mailing list numbers.

Next week I’m going to talk about list cleaning tactics, but do your compatriots a solid and take yourself off of theirs if you’re not reading their emails. It’s what Jesus would do.

So do two things today: Get your copy of Big Click Energy and spend 15 minutes on inbox upkeep.

Yours in keeping it tidy,

Julia
